Last week, our 16 Gettysburg families came out to Painted Turtle to plant their own garden plots. It was really exciting, as well as a little challenging to converse with them and help give direction because their primary language is Spanish and we are all a bit rusty on our Spanish. The atmosphere was beautiful and invigorating though: the sky was beautiful, kids were running around having a blast, and the garden slowly but surely became dotted in green.
So now, we’re just working out the kinks of when they can come up to work on their plots as well as assist with other garden tasks, which was part of the ‘deal’. Our first education class is tonight- How to Build a Rain Barrel. We’re also getting close to finishing the planting of our community garden. Check out the pics!
